Engine 31 went on location with smoke showing from the #4 side of a structure. Ladder 14 reported fire on the 1st floor extending to the 2nd floor of a 2 1/2 story vacant storefront. B-56 reported heavy fire conditions, ordered defensive operations, & requested an additional 2 & 1 to the scene.
